Lee Carsley will take charge of England in their upcoming Nation League games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, but the debate rages on, who will be Gareth Southgate's long-term successor?
If Carsely impresses during his interim reign, his name will be in the mix for the full-time job, alongside the likes of Graham Potter, Mauricio Potchettino and Eddie Howe.
Speaking exclusively to DAZN, via Sevenjackpots.com, former Man United star Alan Smith has shared his view on who should be the next Three Lions gaffer.
The former forward believes there are a lot of options for the FA, but really there's only one name that fans would love to see.
"I think there are a lot of candidates which is great to see, and a lot of English managers," Smith said.
"I think I might be right in saying that no manager not of the nationality of the team has ever won the World Cup as a stat for you. I think every single manager that has won the World Cup has won it with the team that they are from.
"But there has been talk of a number of different managers, Bielsa has been out there a number of times, and quite a few big names that have been linked with it. I think most English people would like an English manager, but it doesn’t bother me and I’d just like to see the best man for the job.
"If Guardiola left Man City, I think most people would love him to be in charge!"
