The Argentine departed Stamford Bridge this week.

Ally McCosit has been left baffled by Chelsea's decision to part ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine left the West London club this week after just one year in charge, having steered the club to sixth place in the Premier League despite a difficult start to the season.

However, speaking to talkSPORT Bet, the former Scotland striker does not understand the reasoning behind letting Pochettino leave the club.

"I don’t get it at all – there’s no rationale to it,” he said.

“I thought the way in which Mauricio Pochettino finished the season was pretty positive – Chelsea were beaten in the League Cup final against Liverpool and FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, but they could have won either of them.

"The last five or six weeks of the season has been the best and the most consistent they’ve played all season, so logically you’d think that they’d be optimistic with the state that they are in and move forward – but no! It baffles me, it really does.

“What Pochettino did as well was getting the fans onside, which is so important. It doesn’t matter what kind of coach you are; the fans will make or break you. I thought he’d turned it around as well – it’s not an overnight job of bringing stability to a club which has been through so much in the past few years and I actually think the majority of Chelsea fans were beginning to side with him.

"Where are they going to do now for a new coach?”
