He is not convinced by his achievements so far.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender William Gallas made plain his doubts over Mauricio Pochettino’s ability as manager.

The Argentine took over at Stamford Bridge in the summer, but despite more activity in the transfer market, the club continue to struggle and look well off the pace.

Pochettino and his current squad are far from assured of their future at the club, and with summer looming plenty of them could be moved on.

The former Southampton and Espanyol manager made his name at Tottenham, where he reached a Champions League final only to lose to Liverpool, and then moved onto Paris Saint-Germain where his success in winning the league did little to convince amid the poor competition he came up against in France.

Speaking to Gambling Zone, Gallas - who also turned out for Spurs in his later years - described why he was far from overwhelmed by Pochettino’s record as manager.

He said: “Pochettino didn’t win anything yet in England - he won nothing with Tottenham.

“The only thing he’s won is the league with PSG; but with them, all managers who go win Ligue 1 or Coupe de France, comparatively to the competition, they are so much better than everyone else.

“Many people thought he wasn’t going to do anything with Chelsea, because he didn’t win anything with Tottenham; and that looks like it’s going to happen.

“Now, we have to wait until the FA Cup, but it will be hard.”
