Former Tottenham striker urges side to beat Arsenal to Ivan Toney

Former Tottenham striker urges side to beat Arsenal to Ivan ToneyDAZN
The Brentford man could move this winter.

Teddy Sheringham thinks that the club needs to sign Ivan Toney in January.

The Brentford striker is still on the sidelines as he serves the remainder of his betting ban, but has been linked with a move to sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea since the summer, and a decent offer could tempt his current side to let him go.

Chelsea are waiting for Christopher Nkunku to get back to full fitness, and Arsenal have been linked with Toney to improve on Gabriel Jesus, while Spurs will be relying on Richarlison finding some consistency if they do not add in January.

Speaking to the Gambling Zone, Sheringham advised Tottenham to sign Toney, explaining: “For Tottenham to keep moving in the right direction and to give the club the best possible chance of qualifying for the Champions League, they need more quality.

“Without a doubt. I really like players like Udogie and Bissouma; players that have been very good this season. Everyone is talking about Arsenal getting Ivan Toney in January. He seems to be the only player in the centre forward position that might be available in the next window. I would love to see Tottenham nick him off of Brentford and get there before Arsenal do.”
