Glen Johnson believes Julen Lopetegui will get West Ham United on the right track.
The Spaniard took over as manager over the summer and has had mixed results in his first seven Premier League matches in charge. West Ham are 12th in the standings coming out of the international break, with just two wins and eight points so far in Lopetegui's maiden season at the London Stadium.
However, Johnson has faith that the experienced manager will lead the side to better results in time, as the project under Lopetegui has just started.
"In football, you've got to be careful what you wish for," Johnson told Genting Casino. "I think they’re probably struggling with a lot of change, similar to Chelsea to be honest.
"West Ham are suffering with so many new players and people. There have been a lot of changes at the club, and it takes time for everything to gel.
"I think West Ham will find their feet under Julen Lopetegui. They’ve made some good signings who just need to find their feet.
"I think West Ham will be absolutely fine and work out what they need to do. As soon as the players get to grips with it, they’ll start climbing the table."
As for the aforementioned good signings that Johnson believes will help the Hammers climb the table, Johnson singled out a defender who followed Lopetegui from Wolverhampton Wanderers as a standout.
"I really like the signing of Max Kilman," he said. "He’s a dependable defender that keeps things simple at the back. He adds quality to a position in the team that needed to be strengthened.
"It might not be looking like it at the moment, but I think he’ll be a very important signing come the end of the season."
