Gary Cahill believes the midfield partnership of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo will only continue to improve the more they play together for Chelsea.
The mood at Stamford Bridge has been lifted in the past week, following their progression to the FA Cup Fifth Round thanks to a win over Aston Villa and the 3-1 victory at Selhurst Park on Monday Night.
Key to those wins was the midfield duo of Fernandez and Caicedo, and speaking to Parimatch, Cahill believes there’s much more to come from the two Chelsea stars.
“I think the midfield partnership between Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo is only going to get better and better the more they play with each other,” said the former England defender.
“Everything is easier when things are going well for the team and this is a tough time. Enzo is an experienced player so there will be lots of players in that dressing room looking to him to get them through this tough moment.
“For Caicedo, it will be a matter of progressing and getting back to the levels that we have seen from him previously. I still think he is adapting at the club and I can speak from experience because I moved to Chelsea from a smaller club in Bolton.
“In some ways it is easier because you’re surrounded by better players, but it is also harder because of the pressure and the flack that you get when you’re not getting results. He’s still adapting to the club as a whole after moving from a club like Brighton.”
