The Reds won the League Cup in dramatic fashion.

It took some late-match dramatics, but Liverpool prevailed in Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

The Reds won 1-0 at Wembley thanks to Virgil van Dijk's 118th-minute header — his second such strike of the match, but the only one that was not ruled off in a contentious VAR decision.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and are still active in the Europa League and FA Cup, meaning a quadruple is potentially at play in Jurgen Klopp's final season as manager.

A former Liverpool treble-winner believes that Sunday's victory can be used as a springboard towards more success in Klopp's final months in charge. Speaking to Lord Ping , Gary McAllister explained the challenges that lie ahead for Liverpool in their quest for more hardware, and why he thinks it's within the realm of possibility.

"It's easy to sit here and tell Liverpool to stay focused and aim for their next game, but managers have to project forward," he said.

"They have to prepare for different games, whether it's a home fixture in Europe, an away game in the FA Cup, or a must-win Premier League clash.

“Managers have to consider travel, too. They also have a lot of games to play this season, so recovery will be a massive feature. Jurgen has to use his squad and rotate players when needed. Nobody can play every single game!

“Liverpool will need to rest players to look ahead. A lot of focus will be needed, but my feeling is that Jurgen, his staff, and the players are all accustomed to this. Players will also have to play international games, too!

“It's just the territory they're in. Elite football is demanding, especially when you're pushing for every trophy you can.

“Fixture congestion was a factor when I played, too. Winning the Worthington Cup in 2001 was massive for us, and it catalysed for us to win the other two trophies. A February final will be grasped by the players and they'll take confidence from winning it."
