Former Manchester United player and ex-Premier League manager Gordon Strachan lambasted the current Manchester United dressing room.
In a week which saw United surrender a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 to Copenhagen, the Red Devils have received more criticism from all quarters.
Speaking to ICE36 , Strachan questioned the players' desire and attitude. He said, "These players think they are at Manchester United, the pinnacle that all footballers aspire to reach, and they don't need to change."
"That isn’t what Manchester United need. That attitude is all wrong. Just before United scored against Fulham, I saw two so-called footballers shirk duels."
Ultimately, United did manage to hang on for the 1-0 win at Fulham this past weekend, but their week took another chaotic turn on Wednesday night. United cruised to a 2-0 lead against Copenhagen before a red card and a flurry of calamitous errors changed the game.
Erik ten Hag's team conceded two late first-half goals to go in at 2-2 at the break. A Bruno Fernandes penalty gave them a 3-2 lead in the second half before they surrendered two more late goals to lose 4-3.
Strachan questioned the players' hunger for the win, saying, "There’s a game at stake here. Is that the level of effort that you’re prepared to put in for this great club? You’re not prepared to put in the effort for your manager or your teammates? That is beyond me."
It was the ninth defeat in 17 games for Manchester United, and that loss left them at the bottom of their Champions League group. With an away trip to Galatasaray to come, United's hopes of playing in the knockout stages look very small.
