John Barnes has picked out Dominik Szoboszlai as his favourite Liverpool player right now.
Barnes was one of Liverpool’s best players during his time at Anfield, as well as perhaps England’s best left winger.
He has continued to follow the club, and he picked out the Hungarian playmaker as one of the standout players of the season after his big-money move last summer from RB Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp’s overhaul of the midfield is one of the reasons they transformed a poor season last year into another title chase in the current campaign, and Barnes told Genting Casino he credits Szoboszlai as one of the successes of the revamp.
He said: “Dominik Szoboszlai has been incredible.
“He is my favourite Liverpool player, and it’s a shame that he hasn’t been able to show what he can do in the last few weeks because he picked up an injury. He reminds me of Steven Gerrard. He can attack.
“He can defend. He can do everything.”
