The last dress rehearsal for Canada and Japan ahead of Qatar 2022 goes Thursday in Dubai, as both sides make their final preparations before the tournament begins.
Canada named their final squad on Sunday following a 2-2 draw two days earlier with Bahrain that featured all but one player from Major League Soccer. Now the European-based reinforcements have arrived and head coach John Herdman can get a final look at his best team before next week's Group F opener against Belgium.
The Canadians will have their full complement against Japan, except one major omission. Winger Alphonso Davies remains in Germany rehabbing a hamstring strain suffered while playing for Bayern Munich, and he'll miss Thursday's match. Bayern and Canada have stressed that Davies will join the team in time for the World Cup, but his absence will loom large against the Japanese.
Placed in Group F with Germany, Costa Rica and Spain, Japan will have their work cut out for them and look to use Thursday's friendly against Canada to fine tune their approach.
