Liverpool are contenders for this season's Premier League title.

Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has claimed that Mohamed Salah is the club's best player of the Premier League era, and not Reds legend Steven Gerrard.

Salah continues to break a number of records including becoming Liverpool's leading Premier League goalscorer back in March.

He also scored his 200th goal in English football last weekend in the team's 3-0 win over Brentford.

As a result of these achievements, there is a conversation to be had as to whether Salah is one of, if not Liverpool's best ever player, especially since the creation of the Premier League in 1992.

''You'd have to say Salah is Liverpool's best-ever Premier League player simply due to his stats," Pennant told King Casino Bonus when giving his reasons as to why Salah is Liverpool's best Premier League player compared to Gerrard.

"We understand what Steven Gerrard did for Liverpool, but if you're looking at goals, assists, and overall numbers, Salah has been phenomenal and has broken all kinds of records.

"You'd have to say he's one of Liverpool's best players of the Premier League era.’’

Liverpool's first game back after the international break against Manchester City on November 25 is one of huge significance as they look to prove their Premier League title credentials in what could be a thrilling race for English football's top prize.
