Almost everyone expected Liverpool to prevail over visiting Manchester United on Sunday, with the Reds starting the day atop the Premier League standings and United coming off several poor results.

Despite Liverpool's dominance in possession (69-31), shots (34-6) and shots on target (8-1), the visitors were able to escape Anfield with a 0-0 draw.

The result allowed Arsenal to hold on to first place, a perch that had only reclaimed earlier Sunday, and also allowed surging Aston Villa to pull level on points with second-place Liverpool.

While the match will have been a disappointing one for Reds supporters, manager Jurgen Klopp still had plenty to be pleased about.

The Liverpool manager praised several aspects of his team's performance, despite the lack of finishing.

"The main thing I don't like is the result, we should have won the game," Klopp said while speaking to Match of the Day.

"With that number of finishes a few more should have been on target. It should have been more, but there were some things I liked. The counter pressing was the best with this group, the intensity and the start was probably our best so far.

"This today hurts, it is good, it gives us a lot of information as well and now we have to finish the situations off."

While Liverpool will be rueing the missed opportunity, Klopp was happy with the way his players approached Sunday's massive contest.

"The attitude today was top, top, top. I wish we would have won but we have a point more and that is okay."
