There was a big win for Liverpool in Europe on Thursday.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had high praise for striker Darwin Nunez after the Uruguayan's brace on Thursday.

Nunez scored two brilliant goals as Liverpool cruised through their Europa League last 16 first leg with a 5-1 win away at Sparta Prague.

The striker has not had the easiest start to life in the Premier League, and has regularly been criticized for being wasteful in front of goal.

But speaking to the media after the game, Klopp said Nunez "has quality coming out of his ears".

"He had absolutely more than an okay first season but he had to adapt, that's done, and he is settled in the middle of the team," added Klopp - who will leave the club at the end of the season.

"He loves to play for this team, with these boys, and he has quality coming out of his ears, to be honest.

"Is he at his absolute peak in general? Not now for us. But can he develop? Yes.

"And is he a threat all the time? Yes!"

Nunez has now scored 16 goals this season, and has added a further 11 assists.

Liverpool will be hoping their in-form striker can get on the scoresheet again in Sunday's crucial Premier League match against Manchester City.
