The German sent shockwaves through the world of football on Friday.

Jurgen Klopp surprised Liverpool fans across the world on Friday when he announced that he would be stepping down as manager at the end of the 2023/24 season. 

This decision will bring the curtain down on what has been an era of success under the German. 

Joining Liverpool in October 2015, Klopp was taking charge of a team performing well below expectations and has transformed the Reds into one of the best squads in world football. 

Klopp brought a huge amount of silverware to the club including their first ever Premier League title, and now fans are contemplating what life will be like at Anfield come the end of this campaign. 

Why is Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool? 

In a video message released by the club, Klopp revealed that he is feeling burnt out and does not have the energy to carry on in such a high pressure job.

During his time at Liverpool, Klopp has won the biggest trophies in both domestic and European football.

Klopp has a chance to add to his seven trophies already won with Liverpool this season with the team still in contention in four competitions. 

How many trophies could Jurgen Klopp win in 2023/24 season? 

Liverpool still find themselves competing in four competitions this season. 

In the Premier League, the Reds are currently top of the table with a five point lead ahead of the defending champions Manchester City in second. 

The team are also still in contention to win the two English cup competitions the FA Cup and EFL Cup, and Liverpool are in the final of the latter where they will face Chelsea on February 25. 

There is also one trophy which alludes Klopp and that is the UEFA Europa League. Liverpool are safely through to the Last 16, but they have only appeared in the final once before under Klopp and that was when they were beaten by Sevilla in 2016.
