All it took was one moment of vulnerability for the Bianconeri to claim a Champions League group-stage victory over the Blues.

Juventus earned a massive 1-0 group-stage victory over Chelsea in the 2021-22 Champions League on Wednesday.

The Bianconeri benefitted from a rapid-fire start to the second half in order to secure the win, which came despite the Blues holding big advantages in almost every statistical category on the day.

Chelsea racked up better numbers in shots (16-6), possession (74-26), passes (769-288) and pass accuracy (90%-74%), but could not unlock a resolute Juve defence in Turin. Instead, it was the home side that found the game's only goal, through Federico Chiesa in the opening minute of the second half.

The Bianconeri caught Chelsea sleeping off the restart, as Federico Bernardeschi received the ball at the top of the box less than 10 seconds into the second half before turning and sending Chiesa in alone on goal. The 23-year-old made no mistake in firing his first touch high over the shoulder of Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, stunning the visitors.

It would end up being the only shot on target that Juve mustered, but it was enough as the visiting Premier League side couldn't convert its overwhelming possession advantage into goals.

Juve moves into sole possession of the top spot in Group H, with Chelsea tied on points in second place with Zenit.
