Juventus are in desperate need of a victory.
The Bianconeri sit in eighth place in Serie A after six matches, with just two wins so far. They are still seeking their first win in September after losing on Matchday 1 of the Champions League and drawing their two domestic matches on either end of that defeat.
Their most recent game saw Juve draw 2-2 with Salernitana in a controversy-filled contest that ended with both teams having a man sent off.
On Wednesday, they head into their second group-stage match in the Champions League, a meeting with visitors Benfica. The Italian giants have historically not fared well against their Portuguese opponents, winning just once in six tries in European competition. As Águias are flying high in their domestic league, having won all six games so far, and they roll into Wednesday's match with a confidence-building Matchday 1 victory over Maccabi Haifa in hand.
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri stressed the need for cool heads from his players as they try to navigate a tricky fixture amid the team's rocky few weeks.
"Benfica as a club have an important European history, they are used to playing these types of games, they are made up of good players and have a coach who has given them a lot of aggression," Allegri said.
"[On Wednesday], the match is not decisive but important. To get the win we need to have a compact performance and stay focused.
"When you fail to score, you don't have to concede, the team mustn't go into a state of agitation or anxiety, in games you must not overdo it, you just have to be calm."
