Lee Sharpe has called on England manager Gareth Southgate to sort out the international future of Manchester United starlet Kobbie Manioo.
There has been clamour for the 18-year-old to receive a first call-up to Southgate's senior set-up ahead of the international friendlies next month, following a string of impressive performances for Erik ten Hag's side this season.
The midfielder also has the option of representing Ghana, but former United winger Sharpe told instantcasino.com that the England boss and the FA need to do everything to make sure he chooses to play for the Three Lions.
“Gareth Southgate has a lot of experienced midfielders to choose from so he might prefer to go with players with a bit more tournament experience,” he said.
"But the FA need to do all they can to tie Kobbie to England and Gareth Southgate needs to be having a word in his ear about making sure he plays for England and not Ghana. On performances, you’ve got to put in him contention to get into that next England squad as well.
“He leads by example – the way he plays the game is unbelievable. He looks like he’s been in the team for 10 years – he’s comfortable and composed on the ball, he reads the game really well and if he keeps his head screwed on then there’s no reasons why he can’t play in that team for the next 10 to 15 years.
"It’s ridiculous how good a career he could actually have because he’s been sensational so far.”
