Group B leaders Arsenal look to hold on to their spot at the top of the pile as they travel to Lens for a Matchday 2 encounter.

Tuesday's match will be the first between the sides since 2000, when the Gunners claimed a 3-1 aggregate victory in the UEFA Cup semi-finals.

A lot has changed since then, of course. Arsenal are still one of the traditional powers of the Premier League, albeit after a prolonged stretch without Champions League action until this season, while Lens has fallen behind some of the bigger clubs in Ligue 1.

However, Lens put together a dream campaign last season that saw them finish just a point behind league champions PSG. That put them back into the UCL, where they look to pull off a few more surprises despite their slow start to the current campaign.

“I was really impressed with what they did last year,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said. “It’s incredible to finish in that position, and the way they did it, the form they had at home.

"This season they have been really unlucky with some results. I don’t know how they don’t have more points, so we expect a huge battle [on Tuesday].

“We are more than aware of it. They are a really good side and we have a huge test ahead of us.”
