Liverpool reclaimed first place in the Premier League standings after defeating Burnley 3-1 on Saturday, but it may have come at a cost.
The Reds entered the match in second place after fellow title hopefuls Manchester City won earlier in the day, but they were able to overcome a heated match against Burnley to climb back into the top spot.
However, Liverpool could be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for upcoming matches after the defender reinjured his knee during Saturday's match. Alexander-Arnold missed most of January after tearing a lateral ligament, and he was taken out of Saturday's game at halftime due to discomfort in the same knee.
After the match, manager Jurgen Klopp offered an update on the injury.
"Same area in the knee," Klopp told Sky Sports when asked the reason behind Alexander-Arnold's exit from the match. "Nothing really bad but he felt it again and we have to see. We will assess it.
"We were made aware of it in the game so thought 'what can we do?' then Trent said 'no it's fine'. But it's not as he feels it so we had to be careful and take him off."
Liverpool have four more matches scheduled this month across three competitions, including the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea on Feb. 25.
