It's been a trying start to the season for Liverpool.
Sitting ninth in the Premier League and second in Group A of the Champions League, the Reds are in the midst of a tough stretch unlike any seen in the Jurgen Klopp era.
A 3-3 draw with Brighton over the weekend was seen as a positive given how the match started, which speaks to the lowered expectations of a club that just a few months ago was viewed as one of the very best in the world.
All the pieces are still there for Liverpool to regain their form, but Klopp is looking at Tuesday's Champions League match against Rangers as in individual challenge rather than part of a route back to the upper echelons of club football.
"Our general situation is important but not so much for [Tuesday] because when you prepare for a game you prepare for a game independent of your situation and Rangers, I think, do extremely well in general but in the Champions League the results they had were now not exactly how they wanted so we expect a team who is really fighting for a result," Klopp said. "That’s what we have to prepare for."
