Sergio Aguero believes Manchester United can still win the Premier League this year.
United are in seventh after a 0-0 draw at Anfield against Liverpool on Sunday, and are 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Aguero was a title winner with City, scoring the crucial goal for the club to win their first ever title, under Roberto Mancini, and then with Manuel Pellegrini and finally Pep Guardiola.
The 35-year-old Argentine left City a couple of years ago only to have his fresh start at Barcelona cut cruelly short due to a heart problem.
Speaking to Stake.com, Aguero explained the teams he thought could rival City for this year’s league title, he chose some surprising contenders.
He said: “You can never sleep on Man United at this stage of the season. They are one of the biggest threats to Man City’s Premier League title.
“I also think Tottenham are title contenders, who have improved a lot under Ange Postecoglou.
“Even despite their ups and downs, Newcastle are also in with a chance of the title as they always put up a fight.”
