The deal to bring the striker to the Etihad Stadium is nearly finalised.

Erling Haaland is one step closer to becoming a Manchester City player.

The Sky Blues announced Tuesday that they had agreed a deal with Haaland's current club, Borussia Dortmund, for a summer transfer. However, the Norway international still has to sign a contract with the Premier League side.

"Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022," a statement read on the team's website.

"The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player."

Football reporter Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Monday that Haaland had completed his medical and that City would be activating the player's release clause, which Romano estimated was over €60 million.
