The Sky Blues have a magic number of three, meaning a victory against visiting Chelsea will be enough for Pep Guardiola's men to clinch the title with three matches to spare. In most cases, City's title chase would be enough to drive the narrative ahead of kick-off, but with both clubs advancing to the Champions League final, the contest suddenly takes on that much more meaning.
Will Chelsea go all out to spoil City's coronation knowing that a victory at the Etihad could mean gaining a bit of a mental advantage ahead of the European final later this month? It's certainly something consider, although Chelsea's own chase for silverware — the Blues will play in the FA Cup final against Leicester City on May 15 — will have to be taken into account by manager Thomas Tuchel.
Additionally, Chelsea's still in the hunt for a guaranteed Champions League berth via league placement (in case the Blues don't prevail on May 29), so every Premier League point matters for Tuchel's men.
