Manchester City are five points back of Premier League-leading Liverpool and look to make up some of that gap when they host Sheffield United on Saturday.
The Sky Blues have played one fewer game than the teams above them in the title race, giving them some leeway in the chase for the league crown. Regardless, a victory against the Blades, who are dead last in the standings, is a must for a team with title aspirations.
However, Pep Guardiola warned that he expects a tough match on Saturday despite the disparity between the sides on the table, especially with how the reverse fixture played out earlier this season (a 2-1 City victory that was secured by an 88th-minute goal by Rodri).
“The [middle and] lower teams at the bottom are getting results as well,” Guardiola said.
“Maybe last season it didn’t happen much but it's common. All of us are struggling to get results in a comfortable way.
“It shows how tough it is, be patient. It's never over. Go game-by-game.”
