Pep Guardiola's men prevailed in a low-scoring final.

It took longer than they had hoped, but Manchester City scored late to secure a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday to win the Carabao Cup.

It's City's fourth consecutive Carabao Cup title as Pep Guardiola's side has taken ownership of the competition in recent years.

The Sky Blues were thoroughly deserving of the victory, outshooting Spurs 21-2 on the day. Despite the overwhelming advantage for City in chances created and possession, Tottenham proved tough to score on thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who made several brilliant saves to keep his side in the match.

Spurs appeared to show signs of life coming out of the halftime break after surviving one-way traffic through the first half, and they forced a great save out of City netminder Zack Steffen just two minutes into the final frame. Despite getting their best chance of the game early in the second half, things went back to normal for the Spurs as they soon found themselves on the back foot against waves of City pressure.

It wouldn't be until the 82nd minute that City's dominance finally paid off, as Aymeric Laporte nodded home a perfect free-kick by Kevin De Bruyne to give the Sky Blues a much-deserved breakthrough. It was all Guardiola's men needed to secure the victory as Spurs had too little left in the tank to mount a late comeback.
