It was one-way traffic at Old Trafford on Thursday. Still, Manchester United left it until the dying moments before scoring the game's only goal in a 1-0 win over Omonia Nicosa on Matchday 4 of the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League.
The teams also met last week in Cyprus, with the Red Devils holding on for a 3-2 victory in that contest. The English club generated 28 shots in last week's match, and on Thursday they required an even greater shot output in order to solve Omonia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who put on a clinic with several world-class stops to frustrate the home side for the majority of the match.
Uzoho stood tall in the face of 34 United shots, 13 on target, as the hosts poured on the attack. However, it wasn't until deep into stoppage time that United would find a winner, as Scott McTominay pounced on a loose ball in the 93rd minute to break the visitors' hearts.
With group-leading Real Sociedad's win over Sheriff Tiraspol, second-place United remains three points back of the Spanish club while maintaining a firm grip on second place in Group E with two games remaining.
