Mark Lawrenson believes Myles Lewis-Skelly has done enough to earn a call-up from England manager Thomas Tuchel after his impressive form for injury-hit Arsenal.
The teenager has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at the Emirates Stadium, filling in at full-back as the North London club face a slate of injuries to wide players.
The 18-year-old has not looked out of place in the Premier League or Champions League, and talk has already turned to whether he can force himself into Tuchel's plans.
Speaking to Paddy Power, retired Liverpool defender Lawrenson made the case for the young Arsenal player, and says that he deserves his shot with the Three Lions.
“I can see Myles Lewis-Skelly being called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in March," he said. "Firstly, he’s playing incredibly well, but also because there isn’t anyone else.
"Luke Shaw is still injured, Ben Chilwell isn’t playing at Chelsea, so I can’t see anyone else better than Lewis-Skelly.
“It doesn’t matter about his age, he’s strong and quick, so get him in the England squad. He might make mistakes, but he looks like he’s going to be a good player for Arsenal.”
