Mark Lawrenson has urged new Liverpool boss Arne Slot to make a key signing as he begins life at Anfield.
The Dutchman has the difficult task of succeeding Jurgen Klopp when he takes the reins next month, looking to continue the legacy the German created at the Merseyside club.
Liverpool finished in third place and won the Carabao Cup this season, but speaking to Best Online Poker Sites, Lawrenson identified some areas where Slot needs to improve the current squad - starting with a move for Fulham's Joao Palhinha.
“Someone like Palhinha would be a good addition,” he said.
“He’s got a big presence on the pitch when he plays and boy, does he make a tackle. You’d hate to play against him and he’s just made for that role. He didn’t go to Bayern Munich in the end last year and got given a new contract with Fulham – I’m not sure what all that was about – but the club should 100% go for that kind of player.
“Another centre-back would be good as well. Joel Matip is obviously gone and Ibrahima Konate wasn’t particularly good towards the end of the season, but apart from that there aren’t that many decisions for Arne Slot to make in terms of outgoings to be honest with you.”
