Arsenal's fortunes have changed in recent weeks when it comes to their form.
Sitting top of the Premier League at Christmas, it looked like Mikel Arteta's team could finally end the club's long wait for a Premier League title.
However, a week into 2024, the Gunners are fourth and are no longer in the FA Cup after being knocked out by Liverpool in the third round.
While Arsenal still remain in the Champions League, there are concerns as to whether Arteta has a squad which is capable of challenging for top honours this season.
One area which has been singled out as somewhere to improve is in front of goal. The likes of Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Eddie Nketiah have been misfiring this season which has led to calls for a new striker to be brought in during the January transfer window.
One name which has been frequently linked with a move to the Emirates is Brentford's Ivan Toney, but the move could be scuppered due to the high transfer fee that is likely to accompany the deal.
Former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre on the other hand believes that the Gunners should instead look to sign Napoli's Victor Osimhen, someone he claims is a 'more complete striker'.
"In my eyes, Victor’s a more complete striker than Ivan Toney," Silvestre told GGRecon.
"I believe his style would be better suited to Arsenal too. As soon as Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille, he needed six months to adapt and then after that he became a real threat and scored a lot of goals.
"He was key to Napoli winning the Serie A title last season and for the reasons I’ve provided, I would prefer Arsenal to sign Osimhen over Ivan Toney."
Following a disappointing a cup exit, Arsenal are now partaking in a winter break before returning on January 20 where they will take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
