The international break is over and MLS returns with a full slate of matches this weekend.
There were a handful of fixtures played during the break, including the rescheduled Seattle Sounders vs. Vancouver Whitecaps match that was originally postponed due to Seattle's successful CONCACAF Champions League run. The Whitecaps will be wishing the match was pushed back even further as they were demolished 4-0 in Seattle on Tuesday, and now they stay on the road for a Saturday meeting with red-hot FC Dallas.
The Sounders, meanwhile, will host LAFC earlier Saturday. The visitors are the best team in the Western Conference and can make a statement by claiming victory against the league's most successful club over the past several years.
Elsewhere, Switzerland's Xherdan Shaqiri returns from international duty to his struggling Chicago Fire, who are now dead last in MLS with just 11 points from 14 games. They host a D.C. United team that are just three points and one position above them in the standings.
