A near-full midweek slate of games awaits MLS fans this week as the summer schedule continues with its break-neck pace.
In Atlanta, star striker Josef Martinez called out his own teammates over the weekend after the club was battered 3-0 at home by Austin FC. Martinez questioned the side's intensity amid a poor season thus far, and he'll be able to see if his harsh words were effective in motivating the team when Real Salt Lake visits on Wednesday.
Kicking off just after that match is Chicago Fire vs. Toronto FC, with the Canadian side set for Mark-Anthony Kaye's team debut. Kaye, a Canada international, came up through Toronto's academy but had to move on to find success at the professional level, eventually becoming an MLS All-Star at LAFC under current TFC head coach Bob Bradley.
With coach and player reunited in Toronto, the team hopes Kaye's steadying presence in the midfield will help turn things around as the road to a playoff spot becomes increasingly challenging for the 12th place side.
Elsewhere, Inter Miami will hope to have former Toronto star Alejandro Pozuelo in the lineup against Philadelphia Union after landing the 2020 MLS MVP in a deal last week, and LA Galaxy will renew hostilities woth intra-state rival San Jose Earthquakes to close the midweek proceedings.
