The penultimate weekend of the 2022 MLS season is here, following a September international break in which many of the league's players were in action for their respective national teams.
Focus turns back to the playoff race, with eight Eastern Conference teams vying for the four remaining berths while the West sees seven teams still in contention for the four open spots. Toronto FC is not among those sides competing for the postseason as the Canadian club was officially eliminated earlier this month. However, TFC can still play spoiler as former star player Alejandro Pozuelo visits BMO Field with seventh-place Inter Miami on Friday night.
On the west coast, the Vancouver Whitecaps' postseason hopes are hanging by a thread, and they host a must-win game against Austin FC at BC Place on Saturday. Before that match, Canada's lone playoff-qualified team, CF Montreal, looks to finish the regular season strong with D.C. United visiting La Belle Province for Montreal's final home game of the season.
