The minds of Liverpool fans have been put at ease following the announcement of Mohamed Salah's contract extension which will keep the Egyptian at Anfield until 2025.
Salah was entering the final year of his current contract following the end of the previous season, which could have forced Liverpool to sell the forward for a high fee.
However, Salah instead has decided to stay on the red half of Merseyside, and when speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, he is excited about the upcoming season and believes the Reds can challenge on all fronts.
"I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately, in the last week of the season, we lost two trophies," Salah said.
“I think we are in a good position to fight for everything. We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again.”
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in June 2017 and scored 44 goals in all competitions in his debut season.
Since then, he has gone from strength to strength and cemented himself as one of the world's best players. As a result of his form, Salah has won three Premier League Golden Boots, an FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players' Player of the year award.
Salah has also played a crucial role in Liverpool's recent success, including scoring a penalty in a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final and helping the club secure its first Premier League title at the end of the 2019/20 season with 99 points.
Salah currently sits in ninth place in the list of Liverpool's all-time top scorers and will be hoping this new deal not only brings more silverware to the club but also sets some personal records of his own at Anfield.
