Newcastle United found themselves two goals down against Luton Town on Saturday before fighting back for a 4-4 draw.

The Magpies actually struck first in Saturday's match at St. James' Park, with Sean Longstaff scoring in the seventh minute to put the hosts up before Gabriel Osho levelled for the visitors. Longstaff restored Newcastle's lead two minutes after Osho's goal, but Luton scored three straight times before Kieran Trippier and Harvey Barnes answered back for the home side, with Barnes' 73rd-minute goal the final one in a wild, back-and-forth affair.

For Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, there's a lot to take from the match — both positive and negative. But Howe preferred to focus on the good immediately following the final whistle, listing off what his side did right when speaking to BBC Match of the Day.

"I think that (fighting back from two goals down) is the big positive from today, we haven't done that enough this season," Howe said.

"I thought we did it really well. I think we became a bit desperate in our desire to score. I think we were good attacking-wise and really fluent in that regard."

Howe admitted that the match was an enteraining one, but as a manager he will need to refocus his mindset before reviewing the game and breaking it down.

"I think it was a game that had, for the neutral, everything," he said. "For any supporter of a respective team, some good bits and not so good bits. There are some things for us to work on.

"There are a lot of thoughts but you need the coolness of mind to watch it back and improve."
