Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth, a brief introduction to the Premier League’s newly promoted teamsDAZN

The 2022/23 Premier League season is fast approaching and excitement is growing among the fanbases of the three promoted teams from the EFL Championship.

Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are the three teams moving into English football's top division at the expense of Norwich City, Burnley and Watford, and will be hoping to stay in the Premier League for seasons to come.

DAZN introduces the Premier League's newly promoted teams below.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth are back in the Premier League after a two-year absence and the Cherries will be looking to replicate similar form to when they were first promoted to English football's promised land in 2015.

Despite being a 'small' club, Bournemouth impressed in their first stint in the Premier League under Eddie Howe and managed to stay in the league for five years before a poor run of form in the second half of the 2019/20 season saw the club relegated.

Now with former England international Scott Parker at the helm, Bournemouth secured automatic promotion after beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 in May, but while the celebrations from the players and fans were wild, they will now be hoping that the club can stay in the league for seasons to come despite having one of the smaller budgets in the league.

Parker's squad get their season underway against Aston Villa at the Vitality Stadium, but they will then face defending champions Manchester City and runners-up Liverpool soon after.

Bournemouth's opening fixtures

  • August 6: Aston Villa (h)
  • August 13: Manchester City (a)
  • August 20: Arsenal (h)
  • August 27: Liverpool (a)
  • August 31: Wolverhampton Wanderers (h)

Fulham

Fulham are back in the Premier League. How many times has that been said?

The West London outfit have often been referred to as a 'yo-yo' club, constantly being relegated and promoted between the EFL Championship and the Premier League.

After finishing first in last season's Championship, Fulham return to the Premier League once again, but there are some uncertainties surrounding manager Marco Silva's squad.

Fulham's attack has been dealt a serious blow following Fabio Carvalho's move to Liverpool so it will be down to star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to spearhead his team's attack in the Premier League.

The Serbian struggled in Fulham's 2020/21 campaign in English football's top flight, scoring just three goals in 27 appearances. He then went onto win the Championship's Golden Boot after scoring 43 goals in 44 appearances.

Silva will be hoping his striker can replicate similar numbers when Fulham get their season underway against last season's runner-up Liverpool.

Fulham's opening fixtures

  • August 6: Liverpool (h)
  • August 13: Wolverhampton Wanderers (a)
  • August 20: Brentford (h)
  • August 27: Arsenal (a)
  • August 30: Brighton and Hove Albion (h)

Nottingham Forest

Many neutrals (except fans of Derby County and Leicester City) were happy to see Nottingham Forest return to the Premier League after a 23 year absence following a win over Huddersfield Town in the EFL Championship playoff last May.

Forest is a club steeped with history with two European Cups and a dominating force under legendary manager Brian Clough.

Now current manager Steve Cooper has already made himself a club legend by being the mastermind of a meteoric rise from bottom of the Championship last December to a place in the Premier League.

Already the Reds are making a statement before the beginning of the 2022/23 season with a club record signing in the form of Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin for £18.45m.

With these sort of deals, Forest fans hope this revival of their club will not be a flash in the pan and instead a return to their former glories, but the team will have to get past a tricky August which sees them face Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur back-to-back.
