There's still work to be done for Canada.
While they've completed the hard part by securing their spot at Qatar 2022, the Canadians will finish off their historic qualification campaign in Panama City against the already-eliminated Panamanians on Wednesday. Canada sit atop the eight-team final CONCACAF group, and a win against the Caneleros would assure that the Canucks end the campaign with the best record in the region.
But while finishing first is an adirmable goal for John Herdman's side, the real motivation lies in jumping into Pot 3 for Friday's World Cup draw. The Canadians need a win at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez to make the leap up from their current Pot 4 standing, with a potentially easier road in Qatar ahead if they do so.
With Panama having nothing but pride to play for, the opportunity is there for Canada to make one final, monumental leap prior to learning their World Cup fate.
