It's the final November weekend of the Premier League season and another big slate of matches is on the schedule.
Arsenal vs. Newcastle kicks off the proceedings with a meeting of two teams with very different aspirations. The Gunners were the hottest team in the league heading into the November international break, but they were humbled by Liverpool upon the league's return to action and are now looking to get back on track. Even so, Arsenal's in fifth place ahead of the weekend and a legitimate early contender for the Champions League places, which is far more than can be said of Newcastle.
The Magpies are dead last in the league and would normally be favoured for relegation if not for their recent sale to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which suddenly made them the richest club in the world. While big expenditures are expected once the January transfer window opens, Newcastle are just looking to tread water and pick up enough points to stay within reasonable distance of the safe zone until the New Year.
Speaking of Liverpool, the third-place Reds are flying high and aim to continue their superb form against Southampton. The Saints are in 13th but have won three of their last five league games, although a match against Jurgen Klopp's men will be their sternest test yet.
Elsewhere, Manchester City and West Ham are second and fourth, respectively, and they'll face off at the Eithad Stadium in a heavyweight battle that could affect the title race.
Finally, league-leading Chelsea will fittingly play in the final match of the weekend, taking on Manchester United on Sunday. The Blues will be favoured against a United side still without a permanent manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this month.
