It's the midway point in December and the games are coming fast and furious in the Premier League.
After a set of weekend matches that did little to advance the race at the top of the table, teams will once again be in action from Tuesday through Thursday for Matchday 13.
Among the fixtures scheduled for this midweek matchday is Liverpool vs. Tottenham on Wednesday, which comes at a time when the clubs sport identical 7-4-1 records. That is good enough to put the Reds and Spurs on top of the table, with Tottenham holding the tiebreakers that put it in first place.
With both sides coming off disappointing draws on the weekend, Wednesday's match allows each to regroup and try to grab sole possession of the top spot.
Meanwhile, third-place Leicester could leapfrog both Liverpool and Tottenham if the Foxes were to defeat Everton on Wednesday and the co-leaders battle to a draw. Everton will be no pushover, though — the Toffees shut out Chelsea on the weekend and bring that momentum into the midweek fixture.
