Manchester City heads into the midweek matchday at the top of the Premier League standings, and the club will feel good about its chances of extending that lead.
The Sky Blues boast an eight-game league winning streak, which is just part of their current 12-match unbeaten run that stretches back to November. To say that City is the most in-form team in England's top flight is an extreme understatement, as Pep Guardiola has his side playing dominant soccer — no matter the opposition.
On Wednesday, it'll be Burnley's chance to try to stop City in its tracks, although recent history is not on the 16th-place club's side. Not only are the Clarets coming off a 2-0 loss to Chelsea over the weekend, but the last time they faced City was in a lopsided 5-0 victory for the Sky Blues back on Nov. 28.
Interestingly, that matchup was the start of City's current unbeaten streak, so perhaps Burnley can bookend things with a victory of its own.
Elsewhere, Tottenham and Chelsea face off Thursday in the marquee fixture of Matchday 22. Neither club has been setting the league on fire of late, but both are still very much involved in the hunt for European places.
