There's finally a sense of normalcy returning to the Premier League, with Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all in the top 10 of the standings heading into Matchday 8.
The opening seven weeks of the competition saw several of the bigger clubs struggle, while the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Leicester City all challenged for top spot. While those smaller teams are definitely still in the conversation, it almost felt inevitable that the more glamourous sides would start to find their way up the standings.
While there's still quite a ways to go — and lots of work to be done before the traditional powers can again rule the roost — Liverpool has claimed ownership of first place after posting a 5-1-1 record through seven games. The Reds have overcome an injury crisis to their defensive corps, only having allowed two goals against so far. It speaks to the depth of Jurgen Klopp's squad that Liverpool can compete at the same high level while still missing key names like Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho.
One team that hasn't had much success is Manchester United, which unlike its "Big 6" brethren remains well outside the top half of the standings. Heading into the weekend, United sits in 15th place with a 2-1-3 record. The Red Devils grow more desperate for points with each passing week, and Saturday's visit to Everton will be yet another tough test for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.
