Kai Havertz has scored in back-to-back Premier League matches for Arsenal, most recently tallying the game-winner in a 4-1 victory against Newcastle over the weekend.
The Gunners have been cruising of late, winning six straight matches in the league to keep pace with fellow league title hopefuls Liverpool and Manchester City.
Havertz has been a big part of Arsenal's good run of form, starting in the last four league matches as either a forward or midfielder.
The 24-year-old is up to seven goals on the season for the Gunners, with six of those coming in league play.
Despite showing his importance to the side in recent outings, a former Arsenal player and two-time Premier League winner isn't yet convinced that Havertz was worth the resources the North London club spent on him.
Speaking to Lord Ping, William Gallas explained why he remains uncertain about Havertz's impact on Mikel Arteta's side relative to his reported £65 million transfer fee.
"At the beginning, I didn’t understand why Arsenal signed him," Gallas said. "We were talking about players that are moving from one English club to another, Kai Havertz from Chelsea to Arsenal, normally he shouldn’t need time to adapt, like Declan Rice. Even though he’s scored in his last few games, I’m not convinced he’ll have a great season. What is a great season for him?
“Last season, he scored 7 goals for Chelsea. This season, I don’t know how many goals he’ll score but for the price they bought him, he has to score 15 goals this season, but I don’t think he’ll score that many goals this season."
