The Ligue 1 side lost the battle but won the war.

Paris Saint-Germain exacted some revenge on Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The Ligue 1 club eliminated the German side from the Champions League with an 0-1 second-leg quarterfinal loss in Paris, good enough for a 3-3 aggregate victory by virtue of the away goals tiebreaker. The result gives PSG some vengeance for last year's Champions League final, which saw Bayern crowned champion over the French club.

A first-half goal by Eric Choupo-Moting made things interesting, but PSG did just enough to secure advancement to the semifinals. Choupo-Moting headed home in the 40th minute to put Bayern on equal footing on goals, but the visitors still needed to overcome the home team's away goals advantage — meaning another goal was needed.

However, the play favoured the Parisians to score next, with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria causing havoc among the Bayern backline. The trio gave the visitors fits all game long, with Neymar ringing the woodwork twice, Mbappe putting the ball in the net on an offside play, and Di Maria terrorizing the right flank from the opening whistle. It made for nervous moments when Bayern pushed forward in search of the winner, but to the Germans' credit, they also kept the PSG defence honest with moments of genuine threat as well.

Ultimately, neither side could break through following Choupo-Moting's strike, and PSG was able to see out the match and book a spot in the final four.
