Former Arsenal midfielder believes that the Gunners still haven't replaced Granit Xhaka in the team, and that the current midfield misses the Swiss star.
Xhaka left the Emirates at the end of last season following a seven-year stint in North London to join Bayer Leverkusen, having played a key role in the Arsenal team that led eventual champions Manchester City for most of the campaign.
Asked about Xhaka's absence from the current set-up, Parlour agreed that the 31-year-old has left a gap in the Gunners' midfield, despite the £105 million arrival of Declan Rice.
“Yeah I definitely agree with that [Xhaka has been missed]." Parlour told Luckyblock.com
"But, it was a situation in his life where he wanted to go back to Germany. I think he wanted a five-year contract at Arsenal, which they don’t give out at that sort of age.
"Some players come and go and you just have to get on with the players you’ve got. And don’t get me wrong, he probably played a big part last season in the team but you have to move on.”
