Tuesday's Group B clash between Real Madrid and Inter Milan features two teams that are searching for their first win of the 2020-21 Champions League.
The two European giants have struggled to start the group stage, with neither side able to claim victories in matches against group-mates Borussia Moenchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk. As a result, it's the two less-heralded teams that occupy first and second in Group B while Real and Inter are forced to play catch up as the group stage reaches the halfway point.
Zindine Zidane's Real were humbled at home 3-2 by Shakhtar on Matchday 1 before only managing a 2-2 draw at Moenchengladbach a week later, putting them at the bottom of the four-team group. The Blancos' UCL form betrays their start to the domestic campaign, where they've lost just once and sit second behind surprising Real Sociedad in La Liga with a game in hand.
On the other side of the pitch, Inter earned a pair of draws in the first two rounds of group-stage play. That mirrors the Nerazzurri's middling start in Serie A, where they are in sixth place with a 3-2-1 record. Still Inter is an undeniable giant of the group — along with Real — and will be extremely disappointred in its results so far against the German and Ukrainian clubs.
With just four matchdays remaining and both teams desperate to start moving up the table, Tuesday's contest has the potential to be a classic.
