The Parisians hold a slight advantage ahead of Leg 2.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain meet on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie, with PSG holding a 1-0 advantage after Leg 1.

Kylian Mbappe scored late in the fist leg to give the Parisians the edge ahead of this week's match, but they may be without their star striker for the trip to Madrid after it was revealed that he sustained an injury in training. Whether Mbappe is available or not, PSG expect a challenging test against the Spanish giants.

"We have to put in a great performance. We will have to do even better than what we did at the Parc [des Princes], because we know that these [Madrid] players, at home, will inevitably play differently," PSG midfielder Marco Verratti said. "We know what it takes to win a match. I think that with the players we have, we can control the match."

Verratti hinted that his team will approach Wednesday's game as if it were a one-off rather than the second leg of a two-legged aggregate, despite PSG holding the advantage. That means an attack-minded performance from the visitors, even if it creates the possibility of opening up the match for Madrid to push for needed goals.

"I don’t think we can think about the first leg and the result too much," he said. "It’s like we played the first half and we’ve still got the second half to play. We’ve got a slight advantage but that doesn’t mean anything, we can’t just look to defend, especially because that’s not our style of play.  And we don’t know how to do that. I think we need to be strong mentally, and stay true to ourselves."
