Real Valladolid entered Sunday as the team most likely to be relegated from La Liga at the end of the day's action.
They did not change that narrative.
Valladolid officially punched their ticket to the second division following a dour 0-0 draw with visiting Getafe, who finished just two points (but four places) above their opponents. The second-lowest scoring side in the league, Valladolid showed why they've put up a paltry amount of goals this season as they dominated possession, holding 80 percent throughout the match, and took 15 shots but didn't manage a direct a single effort on target.
It was a depressing display from a team that would have benefitted massively from even a single goal. To make matters worse, already-relegated Espanyol traded goals with Almeria during their match on Sunday, periodically boosting Valladolid out of the drop zone.
However, it was Valladolid's own scoring woes that ultimately doomed them, and they join Espanyol and Elche as the teams that will move to the Segunda Division next sesason.
