Mark Lawrenson is happy with Liverpool's start to the Premier League season but warns that the club and new manager Arne Slot have "had an easy ride" so far.
The Reds are in first place after seven matches, with Manchester City and Arsenal both a point behind them after an impressive first two months of the campaign.
Liverpool have been near impossible to score against in the early stages of the term, having allowed just two goals thus far at the back.
It is a positive beginning to Slot's tenure on the sidelines at Anfield, but Lawrenson believes things will only get tougher for club in the immediate future.
The former longtime Liverpool defender notes that all of the club's matches so far have come against sides in the bottom half of the table.
Meanwhile, their next four games pit them against top-six teams Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa, with Lawrenson expecting them to paint a clearer picture.
"I think Arne Slot has had an easy ride at Liverpool so far with the fixtures that they’ve had," Lawrenson said while speaking to Paddy Power.
"The next four fixtures will give us a good idea of where the team are at. After 10 games in the Premier League, I feel like that is a good chance to see where teams will finish, come the end of the season.
"Maybe not with the teams towards the bottom as that looks like there could be six to eight teams fighting relegation, but [it is] more relevant for the top four [or] five teams."
