Manchester United are widely reported to be in pursuit of Bayern Munich and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt, but Teddy Sheringham believes the club should prioritise the capture of Marc Guehi instead.
Guehi has become a mainstay in the Premier League for Crystal Palace over the past three seasons and his stock rose considerably in Sheringham's eyes at Euro 2024, where the 24-year-old was half of England's first-choice centre-back partnership alongside John Stones.
Along with Guehi's growing experience, Sheringham believes the Three Lions defender would bring characteristics to Old Trafford that De Ligt doesn't have.
"Manchester United should go for Marc Guehi over Matthijs de Ligt," Sheringham told OLBG.
"United don’t need big name players they need hard graft and players who will put a shift in week in and week out.
"From what I’ve seen of Guehi, especially this summer, he’d be a great addition at Old Trafford."
