Former Premier League boss picks season's star man.

Former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce has put Cole Palmer's name forward as the Premier League's Player of the Season.

The Chelsea forward has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this campaign and is currently the league's joint top-scorer with Erling Haaland on twenty goals.

Talking on the William Hill and Footy Accumulators’ podcast, No Tippy Tappy Football, Allardyce believes that if Palmer had been playing for a title-chasing team there'd be no question he'd be favourite for individual honours,

He said: "If Cole Palmer was at Manchester City and doing exactly what he is now, then everybody would be saying that he is the Premier League Player of the Season.

"Because Chelsea on the whole have had a bad season he probably won’t get it, but he should. When somebody with no prior experience comes in and blitzes the Premier League, there is no doubt that they should win it. He’s got 20 goals and he’s not even a striker. He gets assists and is the coolest man in the stadium over a penalty.

“He never looks rushed and he always looks calm on the ball, no matter how hectic the game is. His first goal against Everton was just brilliant. Both the build-up with the nutmeg on Jarrad Branthwaite and the finish were excellent.”
