More than two months after they were originally supposed to meet, Scotland and Ukraine will finally face off on Wednesday for their World Cup qualifier.
The match was originally scheduled for March 24, but the ongoing conflict in Ukraine forced a delay. Now, the Ukrainian side returns to competitive action for the first time since last year, with a place in a one-off game next week against Wales for a spot in Qatar on the line.
“Obviously circumstances have changed for the Ukrainian team but I’m pleased they’ve got the opportunity to come out and play for their country," Scotland head coach Steve Clarke said. "They’ll want to represent their country well, and we’re no different.
“We’ve waited a long time for this game, to be in this position to qualify for a World Cup, and we’re determined to get to Qatar.”
